Alright, I just watched the Today Show spot on the subject of granite countertops emitting radiation. Apparently all granite counters emit some radiation, but some more than others. The thing that perked my interest came at the end. The correspondent said "you should especially think about getting your counters tested if you are a pregnant woman or have young children in your home."
What that...?!?!?! I like to call these the "Never leave your home or get out while you still can reports," but this one with its ending line just made me laugh. I don't have granite countertops, but if I did I have teenagers and could only become preggers by REALLY immaculate conception, so I guess I'm in good shape and shouldn't have them tested. OR did I hear them wrong? I suppose they figure my kids brains are already developed beyond being permanently damaged by radiation, they're just smart-alecky, snot-nosed TEENAGERS!!
But I guess I should really stop letting the kids practice nuclear science in the kitchen. Ya think?
Hope I didn't offend anyone, JMO.
