I dont know if anyone has been following this or not.  But this women who had six kids already decided to have IVF again and ended up having 8 more kids.  What the heck was the dr thinking? Considering she is living with her parents and has no job.  Well after she denied being on government assistance on national tv, her publicist comes out and saids she actually receives food stamps and disability checks for some of her kids.  What do you think? Should someone who receives assistance and has no job have more kids? I am wondering who is footing the bill for the fertility treatments and hospital bills.

You know, I wanted to post about this, but wasn't ready to open up that whole can of worms. Personally, I would never tell anyone how many kids they can or should have, but some things just defy logic. Why on earth you would bring 14 kids into this world is beyond me. Especially in these difficult social and econominc times. But to do so when you have no way of being financially responsible for them is, in my opinion, bordering on criminal.

I belive the doctor who performed the IVF's is being looked into. I am sorry but that was a huge HUGE act of negligence on his part!

Oh and also, the fact that she even has a "publicist" or that she stands to make money off of her ludicrous actions to me is a pathetic reminder of the fame and fortune obsessed culture that we live in.

This story really got under my skin! Her poor mom having to take care of all those kids...and who wants to bet that she will make money on some Lifetime channel movie or something!

The Dr. needs to start talking, but of course, there are Dr/patient privacy issues....it's all just insane to me!

My only hope is that those children end up in homes where they are loved and cared for.

I watched parts of the interview last night... I didn't see the whole thing, so I don't know the whole story.  But apparently she has no income at all coming in right now.  I can't imagine supporting my one child with no income.  How does she plan to do it with 14???

The mother has now come out and said she will support her kids with student loan money! Wow, I did not know I could use my student loans for raising my money.   Grin

My whole question about this student loan crap was how did she get it?  Don't you have to be enrolled in some college in order to even apply?  At least my kids did.

Also the house they were living in was in repossession.  And who is paying the bills....we are.

That was my assumption.  If you did not have to be enrolled in school and still take student loans out, wouldn't that be taking from someone who ACTUALLY attends school.  Either way she is using student loans for childcare, etc and that is taking away from some student(s) that really need it.

I was under the assumption that she had enrolled in, or was planning to attend, some kind of classes. That should be easy enough to do while caring for 14 kids right?
From what I have seen she has many psychiatric issues that need to be adressed before they even determine if she is fit to care for children.

I am sure she won't need student loans once the checks from the book and movie deal she is sure to cut, start rolling in.

This woman is beyond nuts!  Today I heard a 911 call she made in October saying she was going to kill herself because she couldn't find one of the kids....what the heck is she going to do when the eight of them start walking all in different directions!  I only had twins and then one 18 months later, and I can tell you three will keep you constantly moving...

I kinda hope she doesn't get a book or movie deal, because I have had the feeling all along that is the only reason she wanted them to start with, so she could be famous like Angelina Jolie...scary!

Alright, our credit is in the crapper and we have the hardest time getting student loans for our legitimate straight A college student ... what's the deal?  Well, I don't expect an answer, that was a rhetorical question.

My friend in Michigan told me this joke that is going around:

Did you hear Denny's named a breakfast platter after Octo-Mom? Eight eggs, no sausage, and the guy in the next booth is supposed to pay for it.

Ba dum dum.  Thank you, I'll be here all week and don't forget to tip your Denny's waitress.

I heard that j/k and thought it was funny.  Grin  I wonder how she is going to go to school and 14 kids.  Because I am a fulltime college student with one child and it is hard as heck to keep on top of all the assighments.  She had made comments that when she finishes her degree she will be able to pay for all of her kids.  I doubt that because Dr Phil told her what she would make without phd and it was only about 40,000/year.  Besides why couldnt she wait considering she already had 6 kids.

Isn't that the truth?  I've got six kids and three of them are out of the house and it still is difficult.  A mother isn't done when her kids become "of legal age" ... it just keeps continuing!

Can you imagine how sad your overall situtation would be to have her become your therapist?
