The beating of the 15 year old girl, watched by Security Guards who did not intervene is a perfect opportunity to ask your teens the ‘what if’ question—For younger teens- you can ask-What f you were a security guard?  What would you have done? Would you have intervened even though it was not in your job description?, or if your job description said you should not intervene?  For older teens, you can add-What if you thought you would be fired for doing so, and your family really needs that job. What would come first?  Concern for your family, or stopping that beating?  Why?
