Alright, first....we just moved to Ft. Lauderdale about 2 months ago and just can't get that safe feeling....this is why. Just when I start to feel like im at home instead of in my cozy tampa home this happens.

Midnight last night, we heard ONE knock on the door. hiding

WHAT?? it's MIDNIGHT?!?!?!?! Hubs in his boxers.....goes to the door and the MAN on the other side says: He's our neighbor 5 houses or so down...(never saw him but we are new) and his wife works at the hospital at night and she accidentally took his wallet to work and his gas light was on and he needed 5 bucks.

Now. WHATTTTTT? you're knocking on my door at MIDNIGHT for gas money? I don't buy it personally but  my husband just wanted to get rid of his so he shut the door and went and got $5. I tried to talk him into taking a knife or something with him incase it was a scam....or WORSE!

The man took the $5 said he'd pay us back and LEFT!!!!

I don't know what to think but i think there is a different reason he came to our door.

Incidentally yesterday we tore out the UGLY bushes in front of our house....making it more open. so i dont know what the deal is?

What would you have done? Not answered? Got the gun out? got nasty? We just wanted him to leave without a problem....

eh. im going crazy with the WHAT IF'S! dunno

I probably would have given the neighbor five bucks. I have been in similar situations and I think if I was a man instead of a woman I would have gone up to a stranger's door and asked to borrow money instead of being terrified.

And if the man doesn't pay you back, I'd say let it go and consider it a random act of kindness on your part.

yeah he didn't pay us back haha

the only alarming part is that .......we'd never seen him before or met this "neighbor"....

we are over it and precautious thats all but i was a touch freaked out yesterday.

thanks!
