Yep - directly - I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast.  Our little town is dependent on tourist income.  Ya'll come to Fairhope, Alabama!  The beaches are still beautiful right now, the oysters, shrimp and other seafood are plentiful and yummy, and the tourist industry needs you!

I know.  It just disgusts me.  It feels like we're caught in this horrible government-induced limbo here.  We are trying to get the OK to build a barrier island between us and the oil spill, and would you believe the government said they have to do an environmental impact study before they will approve it?  SERIOUSLY???

How about the environmental impact of the molasses-crude about to wash up on our shores???

As much as i want to think that I'm not affected by it, but I can't deny the fact that I am indeed because the fact that huge amount of money was spent just to clean it up instead of spending it somewhere, like school maybe.but not, this spills get all the tax payers money Sad

Well, we are getting tar balls and oil spots washing up on our beaches now.  Sad  It smells like diesel fuel here.  Lovely place for a vacation, aye? Angry

It just seems so very sad to me.  I mean in the real world, If we have a problem that we can not solve, WE FIND someone else WHO CAN!

Local communities are coming together to make sure that the oil does not enter their waters.  They have done this with private money and also without Gov. approval.  I saw a quote that the local are willing to do whatever it takes to protect thier small town.
