I have made it almost 16 months with my youngest!!! I know that this might not be a long time to some lol. But my older son nursed for 2 months (I had NO support then) and my daughter 4 months (I was stupid and listened when told abotu meds)

So I was DETERMINED to nurse him forever lol.  laughing thumbs up It will be 16 months on June 11 and I am SO happy that we are THAT much closer to 2 years.  dancing

Way to go! I nursed my daughter for a little over a year and then stopped so I could get back on a prescription I needed. I really wanted to go longer as well but looking back I am thankful I got this far... considering I was so close to quitting when it was so hard in the beginning...

Im occasionally nursing my 27 month old. Usually Im stuck tandom nursing his big butt and my little 3 month old in the morning when hubby dumps him on me some mornings. Now thats interesting. I nursed all through my pregnancy too.

I think they encourage at least 1 year in the USA and the world average is like 3 or 4 years! Nutty huh?

I think its such a great thing you do for the health of your child. Your mommy juice is packed with all sorts of potent vitamins, antibodies and all around goodness.

What was the prescription?? I ask because there are very few meds that can't be taken while nursing (for example, I have been on both Lexapro and Zoloft, and currently still on Zoloft) The only bad meds are those for cancer, ie chemo and such.

I nursed my 1st until he was 14mons and had to stop when I was pregnant with my 2nd since I was so sick.  My 2nd and 3rd both stopped nursing when they were 2 yr and 3 mons because they did not like the taste of the milk when I was pregnant.  My last one stopped shy of 4 years old. I thought I would have to get pregnant again to stop him!!

You gals are funny!  I feel that way too ... although we will see how it plays out since my second is only 10 months now.  I nursed my first until he was 2 1/2.  My daughter definately loves nursing.  She is not that keen on solids yet.  As she nurses you can see the pleasure on her face and hear her too!

That's great!

I nursed my daughter until she was 14 1/2 months old.  I got pregnant and she didn't want to nurse as much, so I went ahead and weaned her.

I plan to nurse my son until at least two.

I used a homemade maya-type wrap with mine.  I still will occasionally put my youngest (2 1/2) in it when we are out and about.  He was never one to sit in a stroller, but loved the sling!  Makes me want to have another little one to carry around!
