I'm watching CNN as I type and feeling all sorts of icky..  HOLY COW!  A rain wrapped tornado snuck up on a boy scout camp site killing at least 4 and injuring at least 20 more.   Those poor parents!  This is just awful.
Apparently the camp is surrounded by hills big enough for them NOT to see the bad weather coming and the rain around the twister was too heavy even for the spotters to see the tornado.  You can go here for some more details..... http://www.severestudios.com/ ..... and if you are so inclined please say a prayer for these folks.

Even though I find severe weather fascinating~it does have a way of making me feel completely helpless..

Dear God in Heaven, I can't imagine anything worse.  Prayers all around, for the victims themselves, their families and friends.  Thanks for the heads-up, somehow I had missed this news.   praying

as a boy scout mom - whose son was at the same type of leadership camp last summer, but in MN... this is just heart wrenching.  These parents sent their sons out, proud that he was chosen to be part of this elite group and learning new and wonderful skills... and I"m sure they just DIDN'T think something like this would ever happen.  they have been in my prayers and thoughts ever since seeing it on the news last nite.

just so so sad

I only just saw this story, how absolutely soul destroying for those poor families.

My heart and prayers go out to them.

I just don't know what I would do if anything happened to either of my babies.

I am on the other end of spectrum, you all send your cubs off to be with my son!  Well, not literally.  But ...

He is nineteen years old, just finished his freshman year at college and is returning to work at the same cub scout camp for the fifth year.  My son cherishes his job at cub scout camp and the staff work hard all year round getting ready for your kids to come along and have a wonderful, memorable, educational time in a safe environment.

Yes, I am so proud.  He is an absolute dream come true.  Travis and Madeleine (my daughter that died when she was seven) were twins.  That boy has never caused me one minute of grief his entire life.  He's played piano for fifteen years, went to a Catholic Boarding school for high school and graduated the top of his class, he's doing great in school and then works all summer at camp.

I've always said God knew exactly what he was up to when he handed me Travis right along with Madeleine.  Funny thing is, he was the one with the complications at birth, she came first and he was minutes later with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, they had his head raised to keep the pressure off his airway as much as possible while they prepared me for a c-section.  Something powerful came over me and I (literally) pushed him through without the aid of contractions.  The doctor came in and sat down and cried in the morning and I didn't understand right away.  He said that all deliveries are miracles, but if I would not have had him in the amount of time I did there would have been tragic complications due to lack of oxygen to his brain.  He felt this was the first time he was in the presence of a "true" miracle where a mother could sense the urgency and proceeded without contractions.  There weren't any on the monitor, and they were starting the drugs for the c-section.

Anyway, I could babble about this kid for hours.  I could start at the minute of conception and go through until today if there was enough gigabytes to hold it all.

Thanks, yes I am proud and no, I am not proofing this.
