I am sooooo sick of having problems with my blog this week.

First it was the upgrade to wordpress 2.5.1 or whatever the number is now.
I sort~of fixed that, with none of the supposed 24hr support that my host is supposed to provide.
By the time they got in touch with me, after 15 hours of hell, I nearly told them to shove it somewhere shady.

But since then things have been running strangely.
At first I thought it was my ms.fixit efforts gone bad, but it's now affecting the two other websites we have, so I know it's not me.
~I haven't been *near* either of them for weeks!   dunno

The worst part is that I am not getting any response from our host.
I even checked the 'announcements' section of their help area in case the whole company had exploded or something, but unfortunately that is not the case... At least not yet.

You know, I don't even think I'm angry about it much anymore?
I'm just disgusted and ready to move on.

But still, if I lived near their office I'd definitely be throwing eggs at their windows tonight.  grrrr

that is no fun!!!

but.. just curious...most hosts don't provide support for scripts that you have installed yourself on your site, or 3rd party scripts as they call them.  They are typically responsible for email issues and the availability of the site being up. Have you looked at the wordpress forums?  I have found that the forums are a great place to go when you are having an issue with a specific script.  There are literally 10's of thousands of members that can offer help.

just an idea

Thanks for the suggestion, it's actually happened with a site that doesn't even have a script on it, and I haven't touched it for a couple of months.

So it has to be something at the host's end.

I've been through all the "did I?" and "what if?" scenarios...lol

Hey!!!
I just heard back from support after 22hours!
Whooopeeeee...

Somehow the nameservers at *their* end were wrong!
They've reset them and it *should* be right within 24hours.

How the heck could that happen?
I sure as hell haven't been near the DNS since September last year!

And I *know* it wasn't anything I did because I haven't touched one of the websites for months and it happened to that one, too!

Who knows what they were monkeying around with behind the scenes?

And you know what?
Not even an apology.

Isn't that lovely?

Dear Kidzarama,
After realizing our HUGE mistake on our nameservers we were in such a scuffle to get the correction made that we forgot to even think that our customers have been inconvienced therefore we are not able to apologize because we are selfish that way.  We also realize that when you said to stick it someplace shady we now know you weren't talking either literally or about the DNS.  You see -the servers themselves need to be in a climate controlled room, not outside in the shade.  We also know that the shade you may have been referring too would be a little too comfortable next to the giant pole that is already strategically placed around the same 'sunless' area.
Thanks for the suggestions though.  Should the pole ever get removed we will have a perfect spot for our servers as well as the monkeys who like to play with it.
Again, we are silly, selfish,  monkey hole surfers who have no interest in obtaining any sort of people skills what so ever.
Sincerely,
the support team!

oh my  Well that certainly explained a lot. Thank you for clarifying, yaya!
I was so grateful for any contact from my former hosting company that I would have loved to receive something like this.

Did you read that? My former host?

That's right. The DNS doohickies are starting to propagate... or is that promulgate... or do they procreate?   ponder

Anyway, it won't be long now until things are back to normal, because the site at the new host is showing up (most of the time) for me now.

Everyone in the whole world will be able to reach me again come Friday morning!   dancing

I'll be celebrating then Wink

Why does this all HAVE to be so complicated.  My nineteen year old son is going to school for computer engineering and I keep thinking that is going to change my life tremendously.  I think it is going to be like the butcher's mom who never had meat to eat or the shoemaker's mom that never had anything decent to wear on her feet!

PEOPLE ... LISTEN UP!

Janey is from the "other side" and things don't translate the same for her as it does for the rest of us.

For example "sticky beak" means well, I don't know.

Here's another example, "squizz" and that mean, um I am not sure.

J A N E Y ... teach us how to talk in your native tongue!

sticky beak: noun meaning closed mouth.  Carrie, you do not have a sticky beak so don't worry about this one! neener
