This is just so so so sad!  I can barely stand to watch the news.  And thank goodness they look like they will be willing to take outside help, which they haven't been willing to do in the past.

I couldn't believe the #'s I was hearing yesterday, I had to ask my husband if I was hearing it right.  I haven't watched the news today-to know what the # is up to now, but it is SO many.  I too, am glad that they will be willing  to take outside help.

There was a HUGE earthquake in China yesterday.  So far they are saying 12,000 are dead and another 19,000 trapped.  Happened in the afternoon where lot of kids were still in school, people working etc.  One area had 80% of their buildings destroyed.

My husband said it was like a 7.9 earthquake.  which is pretty intense.  It shook buildings that were 100's of miles away from the epicenter.  Its just scary.  I hope nothing like that hits here...

This is so tragic and the pictures are horrible...especially the children...makes you really think when people's lives are so turned upside down...you appreciate so much what you have...

It is heart- breaking.  It really makes me stop and think about the silly things I worry about from day to day- and how small those problems are when compared to something like this.

Even though I too tend NOT to watch the news, I do like to take peek at what Charlie Gibson has to say about the world. t's hard not to see pics of the earthquake on the web too.  I saw a picture of a pregnant woman being pulled from wreckage and then the announcer saying something about her other children. I started to get all choked up and queasy.

I turned off the news at this point and just said a prayer.  Those poor people!  There are so many people that need so much right now.  I think the money spent on the olympics should all be donated to help them and the olympics should post-poned for a year--or just post poned and return to beijing in 4 years.

I wonder what they will do?

I finally heard from my friend who is living over there for a few months with a ballet group.  I've been worried...
She was "in the earthquake" but is fine... Big sigh of relief!!! She's getting married in August. Smiley
