Band Hero Product Review

Product Overview: This November, family and friends will come together to ascend the virtual stage and rock their way to superstardom with Band Hero. Brought to you by the makers of Guitar Hero, one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, Band Hero features the hottest chart-topping hits from everyone’s favorite acts including Taylor Swift, No Doubt, Lily Allen, The All-American Rejects and Jackson 5. Headlined by some of the biggest names in music as in-game artists and playable characters, Band Hero is the ultimate party game where players of all ages will be able to experience the signature, easy-to-learn but difficult-to-master Guitar Hero gameplay. Band Hero allows fans to create the band they always dreamed of using any combination of guitar or drum controllers and vocals, providing rockers and performers of all ages the chance to experience and interact with their favorite music.
Our Take/Review: Our family tested out Band Hero this past weekend and loved it. As a parent, whose teenager already owns Guitar Hero and Rock Band, it was a delight to have a music game that wasn’t as “hard core” rock n’ roll as the other music games. Band Hero is a fun music system that the entire family can enjoy - it encompasses songs from rock, country, pop and even a bit of folk. It is filled with songs that us parents grew up with (Jackson 5’s “ABC”, Don McLean’s “American Pie”, The Turtles’ “Happy Together”), songs we enjoyed during our single days (Culture Club ’s “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me”, David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”, The Go-Go’s’ “Our Lips Are Sealed”) and current songs that not only our teenager listens to, but even my 8 year old knows and love (Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me”, Maroon 5’s - “She Will Be Loved”, Duffy’s “Warwick Avenue”) The majority of songs, lyric wise, are suitable for all but there are a few suggestive lyrics (”making love” for example) and an occasional “damn” or “hell”. But all in all, much tamer than Guitar Hero or Rock Band and more suitable to be able to include all members of the family in the game.
A few added perks that we like: Band Hero lets you import songs from other games(ie: Guitar Hero 5), Guitars Hero Smash Hits & Guitar Here World Tour) AND the band you create can be any combination of four singers, guitarists, bassists and drummers or the ability to opt to soley sing together in the karaoke-style sing-along mode.

Prevent Child Abuse - Pinwheels for Prevention
Prioritize Prevention Right from the Start
Healthy child development is a foundation for community development and economic development. Conversely, extreme and sustained stressful environments for children, also known as “toxic stress,” damages the developing brain and can adversely affect an individual’s learning, behavior and health. Given these facts, it makes sense to “get it right early” when it is more beneficial to society than trying to “fix it later.” This is why Prevent Child Abuse America promotes healthy child development and the prevention of child abuse right from the start.
Therefore, to further ensure we, as a nation, prioritize child abuse and neglect prevention, Prevent Child Abuse America has launched Pinwheels for PreventionTM, a campaign introducing the pinwheel as a symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention nationwide. Through this effort, Prevent Child Abuse America seeks to change the way our nation thinks about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies that emphasize prevention to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur.
Heeding that call, in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse America’s 47-state chapter network, nearly one million pinwheels have been distributed since April 2008. Planted as “pinwheel gardens” converting parks and state capital lawns into fields of blue and silver, sold at fundraisers or popping up on college campuses nationwide, the pinwheels are creating memorable images that convey the message that child abuse and neglect can be prevented.
Individuals, organizations and corporations alike are invited to get involved by taking one of the campaign’s four calls-to-action: Learn more about child abuse prevention. Lend your voice to bring about change for children in the U.S. Volunteer your time and talent. Donate.
To make an impact at the national level or with the Prevent Child Abuse America chapter in your state, visit www.pinwheelsforprevention.org. Join us in preventing the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children.
